This is a list of free applications that I use on a regular basis. Using these tools will give you almost the same results as the software that will cost you hundreds of dollars! - GIMP; (Photoshop replacement)This is an open-source image editor. After using an old version of Adobe Photoshop forever I found this opensource app. Most of the features in Photoshop I never use. This editor has everything you need to make great looking graphics.
- OpenOffice; (Replacement for Microsoft's Office Suite) Everything you need in an office productivity suite. This one's been around for years now and has a large following. The software is open-source and free. A far cry from the hundreds you'll pay Gates & Company for the mainstream version. I wouldn't suggest mixing Microsoft and OpenOffice in the same company network, but it will work great at home. With a little modification of the preferences in OpenOffice it will save things in Microsoft Office Format for Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc.
